ChatGPT is an AI assistant developed by OpenAI that helps you complete everyday work tasks through conversation. Professionals use it to draft content, summarise documents, answer research questions, and automate repetitive writing tasks. Across industries like marketing, HR, finance, and operations, it supports faster output and frees up time for higher-value work.

From 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2028, NTUC members can receive up to 50% UTAP support on AI tool subscription costs as part of the AI-Ready SG initiative.There are currently 21 approved tools under the programme, including ChatGPT. This benefit is not automatic and requires completing a UTAP-approved AI course first.

No prior technical background is required. The course is designed for working adults across all industries and starts from the fundamentals of how generative AI works. Participants with no coding or AI experience can follow the curriculum comfortably.

Yes. This is a Government AI Course In Singapore, subsidised for learners. Eligible learners can use SSG subsidies, SkillsFuture Credit, UTAP, and PSEA to reduce the course fee.

Yes. Participants who meet the attendance requirement of at least 75% and complete the course requirements receive a WSQ Statement of Attainment, which is a nationally recognised certification under the SkillsFuture framework, alongside a digital certificate from Vertical Institute.

Participants get hands-on experience with a range of tools, including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and DeepSeek, among others. The course is designed to give participants familiarity across multiple tools rather than focusing on a single platform.

Register directly on the Vertical Institute website by paying a S$10.90 registration fee (inclusive of GST), which is strictly non-refundable. Course fee refunds are based on withdrawal timing: full refund if withdrawn more than 14 days before the course starts, 50% refund for 7 to 14 days before, and no refund within 7 days or after the course has started. Two Vertical Institute courses are UTAP-approved AI courses that unlock the AI tool subscription benefit: Generative AI (Level 1) and the Data Science course. Completing either with at least 75% attendance makes you eligible to submit a claim for UTAP support on an approved AI tool subscription.

There are three steps. First, complete the UTAP-approved Generative AI (Level 1) at Vertical Institute with at least 75% attendance. Second, subscribe to an approved AI tool within one year of completing the course. Third, log in to the NTUC U Portal using Singpass and submit a separate UTAP claim within 6 months of your subscription start date. Late claims will not be accepted. Yes. For eligible courses, both can be used to reduce your out-of-pocket costs. SkillsFuture Credit is applied first to lower the remaining course fee. UTAP support is then claimed separately after course completion through the NTUC U portal. NTUC members who complete a UTAP-approved AI course with the required attendance may also qualify for 50% UTAP support on approved AI tool subscriptions, subject to terms, annual caps, and claim approval.

Yes. UTAP support for AI tool subscriptions is available to NTUC members only. Non-members are not eligible for UTAP but may still access SSG course fee subsidies and SkillsFuture Credit if they are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

The subscription start date must fall between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2028. Subscriptions that began before 1 May 2026 or after 30 April 2028 are not eligible, even if the course was completed during this period.
