Is there funding support available?
Yes, there is funding support from The Institute of Banking & Finance (IBF) for our IBF-accredited programmes.
The IBF Standards Training Scheme (“IBF-STS”) provides funding for training and assessment programmes accredited under the Skills Framework for Financial Services.
For our training programmes that are accredited under the IBF Standards, eligible Singaporeans & PRs can apply for funding support under the IBF Standards Training Scheme (IBF-STS), subjected to all eligibility criteria being met.
For training programmes commencing between 8 April 2020 and 31 December 2021 (both dates inclusive):
- Funding Support: 90% of direct training cost

Am I eligible for funding support?
- Both self-sponsored individuals and company sponsored* individuals.
- All Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents,
- Must be physically based in Singapore; and
- Successfully completed IBF-STS recognised programme (including passing all relevant assessments and examinations).
*Please note that company-sponsored individuals have to be from Financial Institutions that are regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) (either licensed / exempted from licensing) or Fintech companies that are registered with the Singapore Fintech Association.
How do I obtain funding support?
This funding support works on a nett fee model. This means that participants only need to pay the unfunded portion of the course fees (10%).
Firstly, you must be a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) that is physically based in Singapore.
Thereafter, you will pay the course fees minus the funding support which is 10% of the course fees.
For example, if the course fees are S$2500, you will only be paying S$250 nett.

For example, if the course fees are S$2500 , the company will be paying S$250 nett for company-sponsored participants.
Are there course requirements for funding support?
For you to receive the funding support, please take note of the following:
- Minimum of 75% attendance (this means that you must attend at least 6 out of 7 lessons)
- Achieve at least 75% Pass for Assessment
- The Capstone Project has to be submitted by the deadline given
In the event that the participant fails to fulfil the abovementioned requirements, Vertical Institute has the right to recover the full course fee from the participant.
How are VI’s courses conducted?
All our courses are part-time and generally held on weekends or weekday evenings. Due to COVID-19, our courses are now fully held virtually, conducted via Zoom.
Our students will have access to our e-learning portal where they can access course materials and submit assignments before class.
How much time do I need to dedicate to a course outside of the classroom?
It varies by course and by person, but be prepared to dedicate some time outside of the classroom each week to review course material and complete the capstone project assessment. Our courses are designed to be rigorous and intensive, but, most importantly, incredibly rewarding!
Will the courses be suitable for me if I have no knowledge or experience in the subject matter (e.g., no prior UX design knowledge)?
Our bootcamps are geared toward individuals with no prior knowledge of a subject required. Additionally, some of our courses feature pre-work course materials to get you up to speed with essential concepts and tools. We also provide support through our team of instructors, e-learning platform, course materials, teaching assistants, office hour consultations and any additional help as required to provide personalized feedback.
What benefits do students receive once they complete a VI course?
Upon course completion, students will be presented with a digital certificate by Vertical Institute. Our alumni also become part of the VI community where members can leverage connections with students, alumni, instructors and experts through networking opportunities, events and more.
How do I secure my spot in a course?
To ensure all VI students get the individual attention and resources they need to succeed, class slots are limited while demand for class slots is high. As such, we require participants to pay a small initial deposit to secure their slot to ensure that they are serious learners.
The application process is as follows:
1. Students are required to place an initial deposit of $100 to secure their slot.
2. Once payment has been made, your spot in the course is secure and our admissions manager will reach out to you for administrative matters within 24 hours.
3. Students will then be required to pay the remaining course fees before the first lesson.
What payment methods do you accept?
For the initial $100 deposit: You can pay securely using credit/debit card via Stripe. We strictly do not store any credit card information.
For the remaining course fees: We accept bank transfer and PayNow. Our admissions manager will reach out to you to aid you with payment matters after registration.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
The initial down payment and subsequent full payment for all courses is non-refundable except in the event that Vertical Institute cancels the course. In the event that a participant is unable to commit to the schedule, Vertical Institute will allow the participant to reschedule their classes to another intake, subject to availability.
