How long are the soft skills courses?
Course durations range from 8 to 16 hours, depending on the course. Each course is structured across lessons and an assessment, giving you focused, practical learning without a long-term commitment. Classes are available on weekdays and weekends to accommodate working professionals and students.
Are the classes available online or in person?
All courses are available online and in person. In-person classes are held at the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI). Online classes are conducted via Zoom with live instruction and real-time interaction.
Do I need prior experience to enrol?
No prior experience is required. All soft skills courses at Vertical Institute are beginner-friendly and open to anyone looking to develop their professional skills.
Who are the instructors?
All courses are led by expert instructors who are practising professionals in their respective fields, supported by a teaching assistant during each class.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?
Yes. Upon completion, you will receive a Vertical Institute certificate and a WSQ Statement of Attainment recognised by employers in Singapore. Both credentials can be added directly to your LinkedIn profile.
How do I secure my seat in a soft skills course?
Pay the S$10.90 registration fee (incl. GST) when you sign up to hold your place. Our student services team will contact you to walk you through funding applications and payment arrangements. Eligible learners may pay little to no out-of-pocket after subsidies.
What is the attendance and completion requirement?
To qualify for SSG funding and receive your certificate, you must attend at least 75% of lessons, complete all assessments with a “Competent” grade, and submit course feedback. If you miss a class, you may attend a makeup session from another intake that week, subject to availability. Watching recorded sessions does not count toward your attendance requirement.
What happens if I miss a class or need to reschedule?
If you miss a class, you may attend a makeup session from another intake that week, subject to availability. If you need to reschedule your intake, requests must be submitted at least 14 days before the course start date, with a maximum of 3 reschedules allowed. Fees may apply. Learners who are absent without prior notice will not be eligible for a refund and may be held liable for the full unsubsidised course fee, including any funded portion that funding authorities require to be returned.
