Vertical Institute – Terms & Conditions

1. General

By enrolling in any course with Vertical Institute Pte. Ltd. (“Vertical Institute”, “we”, “us”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all learners, including those funded by SkillsFuture Singapore (“SSG”), IBF, PSEA, or any other funding schemes.

2. Course Registration and Payment

2.1 All registrations are confirmed only upon:

  • Successful submission of registration details; and
  • Payment of all applicable fees or confirmed funding eligibility

2.2 A non-refundable registration fee of $10.90 (inclusive of GST) is payable upon enrolment.

2.3 Vertical Institute reserves the right to reject or cancel any registration at its discretion. In such cases, fees paid excluding the registration fee will be handled at our discretion.

2.4 Learners are responsible for ensuring that all personal details submitted are accurate. Any inaccuracies may affect funding eligibility, certification, or participation.

3. Funding and Subsidies

3.1 Where funding applies (including but not limited to SSG, IBF, PSEA), learners must meet all eligibility requirements imposed by the relevant authority, including:

  • Minimum attendance requirements
  • Completion of all required assessments and evaluations
  • Compliance with all administrative and documentation requirements

3.2 In line with industry and funding authority requirements:

  • If a learner fails to attend the course,
  • Fails to meet attendance requirements,
  • Fails to complete or sit for required assessments, or
  • Withdraws, is absent, or does not complete the course for any reason,

Vertical Institute shall be entitled to claim from the learner such amount equivalent to the funding subsidy amount that was not granted by the respective funding body.

3.3 Vertical Institute shall not be responsible for any funding rejection, delay, or clawback by any authority for any reason.

3.4 To be eligible for IBF Funding, learners must be physically based in Singapore.

4. Attendance and Completion Requirements

4.1 Learners must meet the minimum attendance requirement prescribed by the relevant authority (typically 75% or as specified).

4.2 Learners must:

  • Attend all required sessions
  • Complete all required assessments and evaluations

4.3 Failure to meet attendance or completion requirements will result in:

  • Ineligibility for certification
  • Loss of funding eligibility
  • Liability for the full course fee or balance course fee

5. Cancellation, Withdrawal and Refund Policy

5.1 Learner-Initiated Withdrawal

5.1.1 All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing.

5.1.2 Withdrawal requests are subject to the following:

Timing of Withdrawal Refund Amount
> 14 days before course start 100% refund (excluding registration fee)
7 – 14 days before course start 50% refund (excluding registration fee)
< 7 days before course start No refund
After course commencement No refund

5.1.3 An administrative fee of $15 applies to all approved withdrawals or transfers.

5.1.4 Refunds (if any) are based on the full course fee, not the subsidised amount.

5.2 No-Show Policy

5.2.1 Learners who fail to attend the course without prior written notice will be treated as a no-show.

5.2.2 No-shows:

  • Are not eligible for any refund
  • Shall be liable for the full course fee or balance course fee

5.3 Course Transfer / Rescheduling

5.3.1 Learners may request to reschedule or transfer to another intake:

  • At least 14 days before course commencement
  • Subject to approval and availability

5.3.2 Upon submission of a reschedule request, learners must confirm their new class date within 7 days. If confirmation is not received within this period, Vertical Institute reserves the right to withdraw the enrolment, after which a $15 withdrawal fee applies and the learner will be required to re-register for a future cohort.

5.3.3 Rescheduling fees:

  • First reschedule: Waived
  • Second and subsequent reschedules: 5% of the full course fee per request (non-waivable)

5.3.4 An administrative fee of $15 applies to all approved transfers.

5.3.5 No rescheduling or transfer is allowed after course commencement.

6. Course Changes and Cancellation by Vertical Institute

6.1 Vertical Institute reserves the right to:

  • Cancel or reschedule courses
  • Change instructors, content, venue, or delivery format

6.2 In the event of cancellation by Vertical Institute:

  • Learners will be offered a replacement intake or
  • A full refund of fees paid

6.3 Where a replacement intake is offered, a member of the Vertical Institute team will contact the learner directly to assist with selecting a new class date. Learners must confirm their preferred replacement session within 14 days of being notified of the cancellation. If no confirmation is received within this period, a course credit will be issued for a future intake, valid for 12 months. Learners may instead request a full refund, which will be processed within 14 business days subject to finance approval.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 All course materials, content, and intellectual property remain the sole property of Vertical Institute.

7.2 Learners shall not:

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or share materials
  • Use materials for commercial purposes

7.3 Any breach may result in legal action, including recovery of damages, losses, and legal costs.

8. Photography, Videography and Marketing

8.1 Vertical Institute may take photographs and/or videos during courses, events, or training sessions.

8.2 By enrolling in our courses, learners consent to the use of such photographs and videos for:

  • Marketing and promotional purposes
  • Website, social media, and advertising use

8.3 If a learner does not wish to be photographed or recorded, the learner must inform Vertical Institute in writing prior to course commencement.

9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vertical Institute shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect or consequential loss
  • Loss of income, business, or opportunity
  • Any reliance on course content

9.2 Vertical Institute’s total liability shall not exceed the amount of fees paid by the learner.

10. Indemnity

10.1 Learners agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vertical Institute from any claims, damages, losses, or liabilities arising from:

  • Breach of these Terms & Conditions
  • Misuse of course materials
  • Non-compliance with funding requirements

11. Amendments

11.1 Vertical Institute reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time.

11.2 The latest version published on our website shall apply.

12. No Guarantee of Employment or Outcomes

12.1 Vertical Institute provides training only. We are not an employment or placement service, and we do not guarantee any employment, job placement, salary increase, or specific career or learning outcome. Any reference to careers, employability, salaries, or alumni outcomes, whether on our website, in marketing materials, at events or roadshows, or by our staff, is general information only.

12.2 The learner acknowledges that enrolment is based on the learner’s own assessment of the course’s suitability, and not on any representation of guaranteed outcomes. No statement by any employee or representative inconsistent with this clause is binding unless confirmed in writing by an authorised officer of Vertical Institute.

13. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.
