Pay little or no cash with subsidies:
What the Google Gemini Subsidy in Singapore Covers for NTUC Members
Google Gemini is among the 21 AI tools approved for UTAP subscription support under the AI-Ready SG initiative. For professionals who rely on Google Workspace tools like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Meet, having Gemini integrated into that ecosystem makes it a practical AI tool for everyday work. It’s now part of the subscription cost, which can be offset through UTAP.
To access this benefit, members need to complete a UTAP-approved AI course first. Vertical Institute’s Generative AI (Level 1) is one of the qualifying courses, and finishing it opens two claims within a shared annual cap:
- UTAP support on your course fee – Government subsidies come off the course fee first. NTUC members then file a UTAP claim for 50% support on the remaining amount. The cap is $500 for members aged 40 and above and $250 for those under 40.
- UTAP support on your Google Gemini subscription – Within one year of completing the course, members can subscribe to Google Gemini and file a separate UTAP claim for 50% support on subscription costs. The start date must fall between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2028, and the claim must be submitted within 6 months of that date.
- GitHub Copilot must remain on NTUC’s approved tool list at the time of subscription. The subscription is strictly for the member’s personal use and must be declared as such when submitting the claim. Claims outside the 6-month window will not be processed.

What Our Students Say About Vertical Institute
This course sharpened my AI skills through hands-on practice with ChatGPT, Copilot, and Claude, while strengthening my prompt engineering techniques. I also explored advanced methods like Tree/Graph of Thought prompting and Custom GPTs. Grateful to Vertical Institute for a comprehensive course.
I love how the course focused on prompt engineering concepts: from zero-shot prompting to chain-of-thought reasoning, where you guide the AI through step-by-step logic. My instructor didn’t just teach us to use these tools; he made us understand that prompt engineering is part psychology, part linguistics, and part strategic thinking. Very useful for my consulting career.
Excellent Gen AI course for beginners. Came with zero knowledge. At the end of the course managed to leverage on GenAi to complete the Capstone project. Thankful for my instructor and teaching assistant.
FAQs About Google Gemini Subsidy in Singapore
What is Google Gemini, and how can it benefit my career?
Google Gemini is Google’s AI assistant integrated directly into Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet. Professionals use it to draft content, summarise emails, analyse data, and automate recurring tasks across Google Workspace. For working adults in Singapore, it is a practical tool for reducing time spent on routine work across any industry or function.
What is the Google Gemini subsidy in Singapore?
As part of the AI-Ready SG initiative, NTUC expanded UTAP from 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2028 to include subscription fee support for selected AI tools. Google Gemini is among the 21 approved tools. NTUC members who complete a qualifying AI course can receive 50% UTAP support on their Google Gemini subscription costs, subject to the annual cap and eligibility requirements.
Which Vertical Institute courses make me eligible for Google Gemini subscription support?
Vertical Institute has two UTAP-approved AI courses that unlock the subscription benefit: Generative AI (Level 1) and the Data Science course. Completing either with at least 75% attendance qualifies you to file a UTAP claim for your Google Gemini subscription.
How do I claim UTAP support for my Google Gemini subscription?
Start by completing a UTAP-approved AI course at Vertical Institute with at least 75% attendance. Within one year of your course completion date, subscribe to Google Gemini. Then log into the NTUC U Portal via Singpass, navigate to E-Services, select “AI Tools Subscription Claim,” and submit your claim within 6 months of your subscription start date. Late submissions will not be processed. For more details on the claim process and eligibility conditions, refer to the NTUC website or reach out to NTUC directly.
Can SkillsFuture Credit and UTAP be combined for this course?
Yes. SkillsFuture Credit is applied first against your remaining course fee after government subsidies. UTAP support is filed separately through the NTUC portal once you have completed the course. Members who fulfil the attendance requirement may also submit a separate UTAP claim for their Google Gemini subscription costs, within the annual cap.
Is Google Gemini on NTUC's approved AI tool list?
Yes. Google Gemini is one of the 21 tools approved for UTAP subscription support under AI-Ready SG. As NTUC reviews this list periodically, members are advised to verify Google Gemini’s current status on the NTUC U Portal before subscribing.
What if I am not an NTUC member?
UTAP subscription support is reserved for NTUC members. Non-members can still enrol in the course and access SSG subsidies and SkillsFuture Credit, provided they are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.
Can I claim UTAP support for Google Gemini and another AI tool in the same year?
Yes. UTAP allows claims for more than one approved AI tool within the year, provided the total does not exceed your annual cap. Monthly receipts for the same tool subscription can be grouped into a single claim as long as the billing periods are consecutive.
When does my Google Gemini subscription need to start?
The subscription start date must fall between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2028, and within one year of completing your qualifying course. For example, if you complete the course today, your subscription must begin within one year from that date and cannot extend beyond 30 April 2028. Subscriptions activated before 1 May 2026 are not eligible for UTAP support.
What if I miss the 6-month claim deadline?
UTAP claims submitted more than 6 months after your subscription start date will be rejected without exception. No extensions are granted. Note both your course completion date and subscription start date, and file your claim well within the window.
Do I need prior experience with Google tools to join this course?
No. The Generative AI (Level 1) course is designed for working adults across all backgrounds and begins from the ground up. Familiarity with Google Workspace is helpful but not required, and no coding or technical experience is needed.
Which AI tools will I use during the course?
The course covers a range of tools, including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, and Suno. The curriculum is designed to give you a working familiarity across multiple platforms rather than concentrating on a single tool.
What certification will I receive upon completing the course?
Participants who meet the 75% attendance requirement and pass all assessments receive a WSQ Statement of Attainment from SkillsFuture Singapore and a digital certificate from Vertical Institute, both recognised by employers across Singapore.
How do I secure my place, and what is the refund policy?
Register on the Vertical Institute website by paying a S$10.90 registration fee, inclusive of GST, which is non-refundable. Course fee refunds follow a tiered schedule based on when you withdraw: more than 14 days before the start date qualifies for a full refund, 7 to 14 days before receives 50%, and no refund applies within 7 days of the start or after the course has begun. A $15 administrative fee is charged on all approved withdrawals. For full details on our refund and withdrawal policy, refer to our Terms and Conditions or get in touch with our team.
