Why Greenhouse Gas Reporting Matters in Singapore
Greenhouse gas reporting has become a business requirement in Singapore as climate regulations and ESG expectations continue to tighten. Organisations are now expected to track and disclose emissions accurately to meet compliance and stakeholder demands.
Key reasons this matters:
- Singapore’s carbon tax is rising from S$5 per tCO₂e to S$25 in 2024, S$45 in 2026, and up to S$50–80 by 2030
- Companies emitting more than 25,000 tCO₂e annually must report emissions under NEA regulations
- From FY2025, SGX-listed companies are required to provide climate-related disclosures aligned with TCFD
- Over 90% of organisations globally report measurable value from sustainability and emissions tracking
- Singapore’s average temperature has increased by 0.24°C per decade, reinforcing the urgency for emissions measurement and climate accountability
Understanding greenhouse gas reporting enables professionals to support compliance, manage climate risk, and contribute to credible ESG reporting.
